Witnesses say rapper was 'chasing cars,' dancing on Kentucky highway: police

London, Kentucky (WDKY) – The rapper faces charges after authorities said he and his team were spotted Running and dancing on a highway in Kentucky While filming an alleged music video.

Armani White, whose real name is Enoch Tolbert, was arrested Sunday after police found the 31-year-old dancing on a concrete median in the middle of I-75 near London, about 80 miles south of Lexington.

Laurel County dispatch calls obtained by WDKY from Nexstar detail what drivers encountered at the scene.

“There’s a truck on the side of the road and some people were in the middle of the highway, and someone was chasing a truck,” one caller said.

“Well, was he on foot? Are you chasing him on foot?” Transmission responded.

The caller replied: “Yes, chasing cars on the highway and dressed in black.”

According to London police, the man in the road was White, a rapper known for his song “Billie Eilish,” which debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.

Police said the situation was dangerous for drivers and participants.

“There was, like, one or two that appeared to have cameras and were trying to take pictures of the person who was, near the middle, like the concrete barrier,” another caller said.

One of the officers noted, “There is a person standing on the barrier wall and dancing.”

Another replied: “Ten and four. Copy, someone is dancing.”

White was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and stopping/standing/parking on a limited access highway.

Officers said he admitted he was filming a music video.

Hobie Dougherty, a public affairs officer for the London Police Department, said it was fortunate that drivers were alert.

“This dichotomy of distraction could have dramatically changed the way we talk about story,” Dougherty said.

White took to social media to address the incident. He said that he smiled in his photo because he refuses to be portrayed as a criminal, and the incident does not deserve to be news.

Officials said it’s all about safety, and while they’re not against a rapper filming a music video on the highway, this was the wrong way to do it.

White is no longer in custody. A preliminary conference is scheduled for October 28.

The rapper said that he will not let legal obstacles affect his work, and that his album will be released on Halloween.
