New York (AP) – Pope Francis died on Easter on Monday at the age of 88. His death, mourning started across the Catholic world and ritual days in the Vatican. Below are the main things that must be known about the funeral of the first Latin America in the history of the Church:
When and where did his funeral hold?
His funeral took place on Saturday morning in Saint Peter Square. His coffin was then transferred by a procession across the center of Rome to the place he wanted in a simple underground grave in St. Mary Megor Basilica, according to his will. The Church is home to his favorite icon for the Virgin Mary, which he has specially devoted.
Why not in the Vatican?
Before and after each foreign trip, Francis was going to Basilica to pray before the Byzantine plate, or Salos Popoli Roman, or the salvation of the people of Rome.
The symbol is located in a side chapel, and the image of Mary, filled with a blue profit, is characterized by Jesus, who in turn carries a golden book studded with jewels.
Which of the characters he attended?
The heads of state, including US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Voludmir Zelinsky and British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, were among those who attended the funeral. Among the other prominent figures are: Prince William, French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Frank Walter Steinmeer and European Council President Antonio Costa.
How long does the Pope serve?
Pope Francis had a 12 -year -old papal, during which he made the world’s humility and anxiety for the poor. But the Argentine Pope, born, is also removed from the conservatives with criticism of capitalism and climate change.
Why was many young people to attend?
Many mourners had already planned to be in Rome this week to sanctify the Holy Year of the First Millennium, Carlo Akotis. The sanctification was postponed after the death of Francis, and an appointment has not yet been set. The jubilee was also appointed by teenagers from April 25 to 27.
Perhaps because many young people were at hand, the hateful ceremony still has a festive mood, as the mourners took selfies in the amid hymns, as Francis’s simple coffin was removed from the Church of St. Peter at the beginning of the Mass.
So, how do they choose a new door?
The death of the Pope begins with centuries -old rituals to elect a new ritual, which involves the sacred right by the Cardinals, and the cards hole with a needle and a thread after their account, then burned them to produce either white or black smoke for signal if there is a new leader in the world 1.4 billion Catholics.
With the burial, the Catholic Church begins nine days of official mourning, known as “Novaddales”. The date of the flavor was not announced to elect the new Pope.
In Conclave, the Cardinate will vote in secret sessions, and the cards will be burned in a private stove after each session. Black smoke indicates that the Pope is not elected. White smoke says that the Cardinals chose the next head of the Catholic Church.
Any qualified Catholic male, although the Cardinals have been chosen only since 1378. The winner must obtain at least two -thirds of the voting of these Cardinals under the age of 80 and who are qualified to participate.
Francis has appointed the vast majority of voters, and often click on men who share his pastoral priorities, indicating continuity rather than rupture.
Although it is impossible to predict who will be the next Pope, some Cardinals consider better opportunities than others.
Is it like the movie?
Yes and no.
The movie “Conclave” for 2024 presented many ordinary people to the old selection process with its mysterious rules and the big party, albeit with the development of a silver screen full of palace and surprise conspiracies.
Vatican experts say the film is outperforming the re -creation of an appearance and a hair. But there are differences, errors and some strange stories in the Hollywood version. While the voting process was filmed accurately, the polling cards are not burned after each vote, but after each session.
Francis legacy
Francis was known for his personal simplicity, from choosing his name Francis in honor of Sant Francis Asisi, who gave up wealth to help the poor, external symbols and priorities.
He chose to live at the Domus Santa Marta Hotel in the Vatican instead of the Apostolic Palace and wear his old family shoes, not the red holders of the Babylon.
In his teachings, he focused on interest in refugees and other marginalized people. His first trip was outside Rome Kebaba in 2013 to Lambudosa Sicilian Island to meet the newly arrived immigrants. A call for welcoming his position in contradiction with us and European policies.
He also pointed to a more welcoming position towards people LGBTQ+, while making the battle against climate change a priority. Francis became the first door to use scientific data in a major educational document and made care of God’s creation a distinctive feature of his door.
He avoided the bone even in his departure, lying in the state in a simple coffin made of wood.
Coffin
On the night before the funeral, CameRLENGO presided over the closure and seal of the coffin, in the presence of senior adults. A white cloth was placed on the face of Francis.
A bag containing metal currencies that were promoted during the papal in the coffin with a written novel from one page on the papacy known as the Italian language as “Rogito”, a word indicating an official work. He read it loudly by the master of the liturgical celebrations, then rolled and slid into a cylindrical tube that was placed inside the coffin. Another version is kept in the Vatican archive. Covering the coffin of zinc and wood carries a coat of weapons from Francis.
