Jontez Williams is a cornerback from Iowa State who is ranked No. 98 on my NFL Draft Top 100 Big Board. This comprehensive scouting report analyzes Williams’s draft potential, current mock draft trends, and where he ranks among the top prospects.
Jontez Williams’s NFL Draft Potential
It’s been a quiet year for Iowa State’s Jontez Williams after nabbing four interceptions in 2025, but the Cyclones’ offense has regressed, and the defense has played in negative game scripts far more often. Nevertheless, Williams still flashes much of what made him a Top 100 prospect for me in the lead-up to the regular season.
At 5’11”, 200 pounds, Williams has great lean, compact mass and excellent short-area energy, which he can use to match laterally and recalibrate at stems. He’s urgent, competitive, and exceedingly physical working to the catch, and his closing explosiveness catches the eye working off plant-and-drives and attacking downhill in support. He can still further refine his break efficiency and tackling form, but Williams has the chippy mentality, short-area quickness, play strength, and playmaking ability to earn appeal in April.
CFB Week 9 Update
The Cyclones came away with a close win against Kansas State in Week 9, and Williams made a mark where he could. He was once again sound in coverage with his twitched-up athleticism and competitive style, but his best play might have been the sack he secured on the blitz, using his closing speed to wash over the QB in the backfield. Williams’ blitz versatility is just another positive quality on his scouting report, and part of what makes him one of the more versatile, more valuable utility CBs in the class.
Where Is Williams Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Williams currently holds the No. 130 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 138.5 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected in the middle rounds.
The gap between his rank and ADP indicates that while he’s highly regarded on our board, draft simulators are seeing him slide slightly, possibly due to team needs or positional value considerations.
Users controlling the Green Bay Packers have been the team that selected Williams the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.1% of their picks across all seven rounds.
