Watch: Hawks attack humans outside Florida business

Sarasota, Florida (WFLA– A woman in Florida has a unique problem outside her work in Sarasota. A pair of nesting hawks attacks anyone walking through the front yard.

“Everyone, at the moment you go to the walkway here, is being attacked,” said Odalys Hayes.

Hayes called on the Florida Wildlife and Wildlife Committee to attend, only to the birds to attack the FWC officer who responded.

A man who cut her herb was attacked, and her son and her husband were attacked. She said that her husband was wearing a helmet when a bird hit his head.

“He is wearing a helmet, he was attacked eight times on Wednesday, last Wednesday, he took the garbage,” Hayes said. “He almost lost balance and fell.”

Hayes said that her son was not wearing a helmet, and she was headed by his head.

Hayes said: “Oh, yes, very bad, everything has been cut.”

However, FWC Hayes advised that hawks are protected species, which are limited in actions that you can take, at least at this time of the year.

“I can’t do anything, at all, anything, when the nest is there,” Hayes said.

David Voykin works with GULFSHORE BIRD away, which is his work to get rid of birds. But it will even be limited to what he can do with hawks.

“Where are we talking, the hawks will be the hawks, the ground will rule, and with the instructions from FWC, they are protected,” said Voykin.

Voykin suggested removing the nest after the tone comes out, then put noise makers and shiny things to deter birds from returning.

“In the short term, a pleasant thing that would give them a visual fear or deterrent,” Fukin suggested. “Some people hang the wind.”

Meanwhile, Hayes advises her careers to be careful.

“We make sure that we tell them, as you know, to stop near the ceiling,” Hayes said.
