Austin (KXAN)-Texas leads from all over the state to support Cleaning efforts at Center Point, the catastrophic flood site during the weekend on Independence Day.
Austnit Drew Fish decided to volunteer after seeing reports of extensive flood damage to Kiir Province. But Fish said he had not fully understood the severity of the destruction until he arrived on Monday.
“All you see in the news – photos, videos and things – it cannot fully understand the amount of water that came here and the resulting destruction.”
The Center Point, in the direction of the river course, was only from where the floods began, the center of the various search and rescue tasks during the weekend. At least 89 people died in the floods, and the authorities are still searching for missing persons in many provinces in central Texas.
Fish said that despite the destruction, he was encouraging to find out the number of people who came to support recovery efforts.
“There are people who traveled from Mexico to help search and rescue. You have people from Houston, from Austin, from Dallas.” The fish said. “People have already remained and supported society.”
The volunteers, including Nabil Remadna from KXan, spent today searching for debris and removing the trees that fell. Chris Karson led Dallas with his wife to help the city recover. Today he spent removing debris from the areas flooded by water – an effort that he said is possible by Texas in question.
“We have published on the way here from Dallas to say,” Carson said, “We need to direct a slide,” Carson said. I have a trailer and I can take it, and within 45 minutes, we had a skiing in Austin. ”
With the continued rescue and recovery efforts, Fish said that Texas’s strength and solidarity helps him stay optimistic about the future.
He said: “You hear all the chaos in the world, and it is in fact just a breath of the fresh air that everyone takes out here, and they put time and work, in an attempt to help society as they can.”
