Villanova University president says active shooter incident was ‘cruel hoax’

Villanova, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – The active shooter who forced the students of Villanova University forced the shelter in place on Thursday as a result of a harsh trick, “according to President Pastor Peter Donuho.

“No one was injured, and we now know that it was a harsh trick – there was no active shooter, and there is no evidence of firearms on the campus,” Donoho said in a letter to the students.

Police says that the Ministry of Public Safety has received multiple reports at approximately 4:30 pm, including the claims of a man with a weapon similar to the AR-15 and a possible victim. Police said many calls included festive -like sounds in the background.

A security alert was issued immediately, and students are directed to a lock and a doors barrier. The video clips on social media showed the crowds that are transferred to the buildings.

Kyle Mazrou said, a law student in the first year, which was inside the John F. Skara, where the police initially believed that the suspect “adrenaline was a kind of surreal. You really don’t know what you feel.”

“An officer with his gun came with a decree, we asked whether we heard any gunshots. We said,” No. He said: “See everything.

Nearby, the student in the first year Jack Konoli in his bedroom. “It was somewhat scary,” he said. His father, Sean Conluli, waited abroad. “Getting the text message was surreal. Praise be to God, no one was hurt – there is a blessing there.”

Hundreds of law enforcement officers responded, and the campus room was secured by room. After a comprehensive research, the alert was raised and confirmed a follow -up message that the campus was clear.

“We know that this wrong report caused fear and disruption with our academic year,” the university said in a statement. “We are very grateful to our public safety team, the Raddor Police, local law enforcement, our employees and student leaders to respond quickly and kindly.”

Dilayer County Jack Stolshteimer’s lawyer said his office, along with the FBI, is investigating.

“If this is really a harsh trick, this is a crime, and we will track you if the last thing we do,” said Stolshaimer.

Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro also answered, noting that the illegal sockets and the state police were directed to use “every tool at our disposal” to find officials.

Shapiro said in a statement about X.

Chopper took 6 pictures of emergency vehicles and armed officers at the garage entrance to cars and other campus sites.

Brandon Ambrosino, a professor of theology and ethics at Villanova, said faculty are struggling to obtain information during the closure. “None of my colleagues knows what is happening. We are the correspondence back and forth,” he said.

Courtyan Harris Bond was walking near the Faculty of Law with her husband and novice son when the alert was issued. She said after she got everything very difficult to start a year -old student.

Villanova is located about 12 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The University of Augustine has gained increasing attention this year, such as Alma Matr from Pope Liu XI XIV.
