Vacant hotel erupts into flames near Interstate 35, UT campus

ASAN (KXAN) – The 35th Violence Hotel and the University of Texas on the Austin campus on Sunday evening, and sends huge columns of black smoke in the air that can be seen from miles.

Lisa Herrera saw “huge decorations of black smoke” from the fire while driving on her way from South Austin and “she had to see what happened.”

She said, “The super black smoke was.” “Sometimes, you can see a slight puff of gray, but it was the complete darkness that covered everything. It was crazy. Thank God for the firefighters; they are doing a great job.”

She said she had received a notification from the KXAN NEWS smartphone app with details about the fire.

Austin Fire Fire Department said that electricity was stopped in the area due to the high fire, and that no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
