President Trump announced on Saturday that the United States had bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, including the Fordo site, which is located on the side of the mountain.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“All aircraft are now outside the Iranian air area. A full load of bombs has been dropped on the basic location, Fordo. All aircraft are on their way home,” Trump added. “Congratulations to our great American warriors. No other army in the world could have done this. It is time for peace!”
The announcement of the United States’s action against Iran came two days after that the White House said that Trump would decide whether to participate in the conflict between Iran and Israel in the next two weeks to give a window to negotiations.
Trump later said on the social truth that he intends to give a speech at the country at 10 pm Easter on Saturday.
It was not immediately clear whether the United States has published the specialized “Bunker-Puster” bombs that experts said could penetrate the mountain where the Fordow is located.
Israel struck Iranian nuclear facilities earlier this month, killing many Iranian military officials in this operation. This attack began a series of reprisals from Tehran.
Although the United States did not participate in Israel’s initial missile strikes, all eyes were on Trump and whether he would participate directly.
Trump was insisting that Iran could not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, and indicated that Tehran would not be allowed to enrich uranium as part of any deal.
However, some members of his base, including MP Margori Taylor Green (R Ga) and Steve Bannon, have warned against the United States participating in a foreign conflict, arguing that it will not be in line with the first American Trump platform.
