ASAN (KXAN) – Book fans and authors published by the University of Texas Press on Sunday 75 years of publication at the Austin Central Library.

This occasion started with statements from Mayor Kirk Watson, followed by paintings of authors and discussions with the audience.

Sarah Bird, author of three books published by UT Press newspaper, presented her latest work, Juntenth Rodeo, a group of her photos taken in Rodeos Small-Town Black Rodeos in the late 1970s.

“It is amazing to be part of this amazing cooperation – it has been around for nearly a century.” “I took these pictures in Black Rodeos as in the late 1970s, and at that time, I could not publish them … I owe it to this society, to spread these things.”

“It is very modest – when I look back on some of the 4000 books that we published, many of them have caused a tremendous influence,” said Casey Ketel, Ut Press Editor’s editor -in -chief.

“We have done it 75 years ago – we will continue to do what we are doing, which publishes great books with faculty members at the University of Texas, with people in Austin,” Kaitel said. “It is really important that their work comes out there and that people see it and appreciate it, because it makes a big difference.”
