‘Unicorn’ Travis Hunter Makes Ridiculous Bobbling Interception During Jaguars’ OTAs

Travis Hunter was one of the more unique prospects in the history of the NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to take the two-way star with the second overall pick, and the hype has already started to build.

Jacksonville is in the middle of its organized team activities (OTAs) schedule, and Hunter proved why he’s a unicorn with an insane, must-see interception at practice.

Travis Hunter Makes Unreal Interception at Jaguars’ OTA

Head coach Liam Coen recently spoke about the team’s defensive coaches wanting more time with Hunter. Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper quoted Coen as saying: “You can definitely see how natural it is for him, still learning, still growing, still trying to learn the calls as much as possible. But when you see him just in the actual [7-on-7] and team setting, he doesn’t look out of place by any means.”

So far, Hunter has been alternating days on offense and defense and recently made a spectacular interception that has to be seen to be believed. Jacksonville’s team account posted a clip on X:

The excitement from his teammates couldn’t be contained after Hunter came down with the diving interception that he tipped to himself. His man-to-man coverage skills have been his calling card, and that was on display in the clip. Undrafted rookie receiver Darius Lassiter had no chance once Hunter locked on to the ball.

Hunter is currently listed as Jacksonville’s starting slot receiver and as a backup outside cornerback. He’ll likely not begin the season starting both ways, but it’s hard to imagine that the Jaguars won’t be able to create packages for him to play both ways in each game.

Arguably the best overall athlete in the 2025 class, Hunter routinely showed up as a top-five pick in many mock drafts. He made history by flipping from Florida State to Jackson State before he enrolled in college, becoming the first five-star recruit to sign with an HBCU.

Hunter wanted to play for Deion Sanders and played both wide receiver and cornerback as a true freshman. In eight games, Hunter recorded 18 catches, 188 yards, and four receiving touchdowns, while adding 19 tackles, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, and a pick-six on defense.

He followed Sanders to Colorado the following season, with many pundits doubting he could handle the workload of playing both ways at the FBS level. In nine games in 2023, Hunter posted 57 catches, 721 yards, and five touchdowns. He also added 30 tackles, five pass breakups, and three interceptions en route to being named an All-American.

Hunter was the most exciting college player to watch, and he took his game to new heights in 2024. In 13 games, he set career-highs in receptions (96), yards (1,258), touchdowns (15), tackles (36), PBUs (11), and interceptions (four).

He won the 2024 Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp Award, the Biletnikoff Award (nation’s best receiver), and the Bednarik Award (nation’s best defensive player). Hunter was unquestionably the best player in college football last season, and the Jaguars have given him a chance to play both ways during their offseason program.

If Hunter’s body doesn’t let him down, he could easily become one of the all-time NFL greats. The first time he steps onto an NFL field will be must-watch.
