U.S. Coast Guard suspends search for missing boaters in Lake Tahoe

(Kron) – The American Coast Guard canceled its search for two people who are still missing after a boat in Lake Tahoe turned on Saturday night, killing six and wounding two others.

“The Coast Guard stopped its search at 10:55 am, on Sunday, pending more developments, for two people missing in the vicinity of the DL Bliss State Park in Lake Tahoe after their boat turned on Saturday afternoon,” the US Coast Guard said.

The boat turned around 3 pm during a sudden storm, which rocked the boats with unexpected waves from 6 to 8 feet. Ten people were on board the boat when it turned a few miles west of Nevada borders.

Uscg and auxiliary agencies have searched more than 390 square miles for 12 hours in an attempt to find missing sects. As of Sunday evening, officials did not issue the names of missing persons or those who were killed in the tragedy.
