Washington – On Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed his intention to impose changes in the Smithsonian Foundation by executive order aimed at financing for programs that provide “division -exciting accounts” and “improper ideology”, which is the last step in a wide range of culture that he sees very liberal.
Trump claimed that there has been a “coordinated and leakage” effort over the past decade to rewrite American history by replacing “objective facts” with a “distorted novel driven by ideology instead of truth”, adding that it recites “foundational principles” in the United States in “negative light”.

The thing behind the closed doors places Vice President JD Vance, who works in the Smithsonian Referees Council, responsible for overseeing the efforts made to “remove incorrect ideology” from all areas of the institution, including its museums and national education and research centers.
It represents the last Salvo Republican President against the cultural columns of society, such as universities and art, which he considers a step with conservative sensitivities. Trump recently installed himself as head of the John F. Kennedy for theatrical arts with the aim of repairing programming, including showing the annual Kennedy Center Awards. The administration recently forced the University of Colombia to make a series of political changes by threatening the Ivy League School with a loss of one hundred million dollars in federal financing.
The executive also allows the statues and the effects of confederation figures, many of which were dropped or replaced throughout the country after the killing of the police, George Floyd, in Minneapolis in 2020 and the rise of the black life movement, which Trump hates and other conservatives.
It also calls for improvements in the Independence Hall in Philadelphia by July 4, 2026, in time for the anniversary of 250 to sign the independence declaration.
Trump identified the National Museum of American -African History and Culture, which opened in 2016 near the White House, the Women’s History Museum, which is being development, and the American Art Museum for Criticism.
He said, “Museums in the capital of our nation must be places where individuals learn – ideological indoctrination or exciting accounts of disagreement that distort our common history should.”
“We have no comments now,” Linda Saint Thomas, chief official speaker of the Smithsonian Foundation, said in an e -mail late Thursday.
Under Trump’s order, Vance will also work with the White House budget office to ensure that the future financing of the Smithsonian Foundation does not spend on programs that “deteriorate joint American values, divide Americans on the basis of race, or promote programs or ideologies that do not contradict federal law and politics.” Trump also wants to make sure that the Women’s History Museum celebrates women, not “identifying men as women in any party.”
The Minister of the Interior also requires the restoration of monuments, memorials, statues, and similar characteristics that have been removed or changed since January 1, 2020, to “perpetuate a false reconstruction of American history, or reduce the value of some of the inappropriate historical events or numbers, or include any other incorrect ideology.”
The Smithsonian Foundation is the largest complex in the world, education and research in the world. It consists of 21 museums and the National Zoo. Eleven museums are located along the National Trade Center in Washington.
The Foundation was established by Congress with funds from James Smithson, a British scientist who left his property to the United States to find “in Washington, under the name of the Smithsonian Foundation, an institution to increase and publish knowledge.”
