Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher and the 2020 NL Cy Young award winner with the Cincinnati Reds, Trevor Bauer currently plays baseball in the NPB with the Yokohama DeNa BayStars. He had last started a game in the big leagues in June 2021 and after that stayed away from the diamond for almost two years due to a lengthy court battle in an alleged lawsuit against him.
He was released by the Dodgers organization in 2023 and then joined the BayStars to kick off his overseas career in professional baseball as the doors for a return to MLB were all but shut for the once-famed RHP. He had a decent campaign in Yokohama and then traveled to Mexico to sign with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico for the 2024 LMB season.
Bauer had one of the best seasons of his professional baseball career with the Red Devils of Mexico as he led them to the LMB championship title for the first time in over a decade. Besides that, he was named the pitcher of the season as he finished the regular season with a dominant 10-0 record, which also included a league-high 19-strikeout game.
Rachel Luba Helped Trevor Bauer Reconnect with his Diablos Rojos del Mexico Family
On Friday, Luba shared a snap on her Instagram story that showcased Bauer conversing with his friends from Mexico via a video call. Bauer is in Japan playing in the NPB with the BayStars, and Luba traveled to Mexico to reconnect with her Diablos Rojos family.
She not only reconnected with the people with whom she and Bauer spent the last season with on and off the field but also helped the all-star pitcher to connect and talk with them over a video call. The caption on the image read, “@baueroutage saying hi to his Diablos family.”
Post the 2024 campaign, Bauer decided to hit the road again and went back to Japan to sign up with the BayStars for a second time in three years. All the contracts post his exit from the MLB were largely negotiated by his agent, Luba, who has helped him resurrect his career from a state of ruin.
Trevor Bauer Has Been Struggling in His Second Stint With the BayStars
While Bauer went 10-4 in 19 starts with an ERA of 2.76 and 130 strikeouts in 130.2 IP in his first stint with the BayStars in 2023, he has largely struggled in his second stint with the ballclub this season.
Currently, Bauer is 2-3 in eight starts this NPB campaign. He has an ERA of 3.93 and has raked in 50 strikeouts in 55 IP so far this season. If this season was to be the tipping point towards the former Reds and Dodgers pitcher making an effective case for his return to the MLB, then it hasn’t been going as per his plans.
Bauer needs to pick up his performance in the remaining starts of the campaign and try to salvage a better overall record, one that can woo the front office executives of various MLB ballclubs and possibly open the gateway for his return to the big leagues in the near future.
