Denver (KDVR) – During the opening of the Independence Corridor at the earliest date six years ago, Rocky Mountain National Park announced on Thursday that the Trail Ridge road will not reopen in time to spend the weekend.
For many, a trip to the high country, especially on the Tril Ridge road, indicates a successful visit to Colorado during the anniversary day. But closing the road on the holiday is not far from: last year, the road was reopened after the winter on May 31. In the previous year, it was May 27.
National Park Service said that road removal sets faced relapits from the previous progress.
“The wind has been the main challenge since last week, causing a lower snow vision, ice retreating on advanced areas, and a thick ice layer under the ice menopausal,” published the Rocky Mountain National Park service on Facebook. “It is expected to exceed snow and freezing temperatures overnightly 10,000 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park during the weekend.”
The road with a length of 11 miles is located above 11,500 feet, making it the highest paved road in the United States, as it was escalating at a height of 12183 feet above sea level, according to the park, with a few handrails and shoulders.

According to Park, RMNP employees will update the phone line on the road, 970-586-1222, when the road condition changes.
