Tracker is returning for season 3, and viewers cannot wait to see what other cases Colter Shaw and company will be able to solve next season.
‘Tracker’ Was Renewed for Season 3
Prior to the season 2 finale of Tracker in May 2025, the network announced that several shows were being renewed for the 2025-2026 broadcast season. Tracker was one of the series on the list, as well as Hollywood Squares, Elsbeth, Fire Country and more.
The season 3 renewal was not a surprise, considering the amazing ratings that the show has had for the first two seasons, becoming the No. 1 non-sports show on television for the 2023-2024 season.
Justin Hartley Celebrates ‘Tracker’ Season 3 Renewal
Following the February 20, 2025, press release, Justin Hartley, who plays Colter and serves as an executive producer, shared a video thanking his cast and crew for the big achievement.
“I just wanted to congratulate everyone on season 2; our numbers are up from season 1. Something like six percent or eight percent or 11 percent or something like that. That hardly ever happens,” the This Is Us alum said in a clip on his Instagram page. “It’s all thanks to you guys, and because of all the hard work you’ve done on season 2, they have picked us up for season 3. They didn’t give us information as far as like the number of episodes, but it’s somewhere between 18 and 22, so that’s pretty good.”
“And also, I just want to say thank you because this show doesn’t have a season 2 without you,” he said. “This show doesn’t have a successful season 1 without you. This show certainly doesn’t have a season 3 without you, so thank you for all your hard work and dedication and effort and time and for just being badass, lovely, nice, human beings that are talented, so thank you.”
Fans Are So Excited About ‘Tracker’ Season 3
Fans flew to Instagram to leave comments on the show’s official account to show their love for the drama series.
“Yesss the whole family loves this show!” one person said, while another wrote, “It is a really redeeming show, fighting the bad… looking for justice and finding the lost… and always teaching us something along the way!”
“I am loving the show and you as the lead! But our side kick lawyer is the bomb!” another said.
Which Characters Will Be Returning for Season 3 of ‘Tracker’?
While it’s a given that Justin will return as Colter in season 3 of Tracker, Fiona Rene, who plays Reenie Greene also hinted she would be back next season. She voiced her hopes for her character’s plot in season 3 during a March 2025 interview with TV Insider.
“I hope that we get to see more Reenie backstory, just like we get some more Colter backstory,” Fiona told the outlet. “We mentioned in Episode 10, Season 1 about Reenie’s dad and sister. And I’m just so interested in seeing more of her upbringing and if it’s what we kind of assume or if it’s something totally different. I think she’s such a unique fiery force of nature that I’m like, what family made this person to be who she is? And obviously, I want to keep helping the tracker track.”
Many are also hoping that Bobby and Velma return, along with Russell and Dory.
In May 2025, executive producer Elwood Reid hinted that there might be a bit of a casting shakeup in season 3.
“You don’t [always] see Reenie. He talks to Velma for two seconds. He may talk to Bobby for one phone call. The show works because you are over Justin‘s shoulder,” he told Us Weekly in May 2025. “One of the challenges in season 3 is going to be reconfiguring the team and figuring out what that team looks like.”
“We’re going to bring back some characters from seasons 1 and 2 — we’re going to see them more and more. There’s been some fun characters that I think are fun to see in Colter’s world [season to season]” he added.
That same month, he teased some exciting things to come in season 3, hinting that some stories from past seasons can tie into new storylines.
“I think there’s going to be, I mean, knock wood, if I can get some of these actors, we’re building out, just like we saw in episode 16 when he had that friend that was a search and rescue guy, we’re building out a little bit more pieces of his past,” he told TV Insider. “And we’re also looking at building out kind of, I’m hoping, and this is just a middle of the night idea I’ve had, is one of the cases from season 2 had a little Easter egg that will then come into a case in season 3, but then also dovetail back to some stuff possibly with his father. I know that’s a really weird loopy loop answer, but we’re trying to build a much bigger picture here. And again, that’s the fun stuff, the much larger arc stuff.”
When Will Season 3 of ‘Tracker’ Premiere?
CBS revealed that season 3 of Tracker will air within the 2025-2026 broadcast season, however, an official premiere date has yet to be revealed.
