Denver (KDVR) – Over the past two years, the RTD Transit police have increased their efforts, increasing the number of officers, cameras and mental health factors to help solve positions quickly.
The agency also has a network of security with the stations and offices surrounding the stop and other private security companies.
Despite these resources, RTD Transit Steven Martingano says sometimes that it is not enough and where these officers can be a difficult task.
“You must remember that we are going through 2300 square miles, 40 cities and eight provinces. So we are really trying to appoint our officers to the sites that, as you know, based on crime data,” said Martino.

RIDERS FOX31 spoke to say they have fears.
“Frankly, I am afraid. Especially because I should wait for the train at 6 am and sometimes there are people around them somewhat,” said Maria Osmaraz.
Do not know who are riding next to or what will happen on a tour. And if the train is late …
“Sometimes this is a few minutes late, and it makes it more stressful when you see that strange people continue to reach. So, yes, sometimes it may not be the best experience,”
“I am trying to take it when there is not a lot of people. I just don’t deal with a headache to see others either. Yes, I am not very fond of large crowds or a lot of people in one area,” said Ryder Ryder Ali Zolali.
Martino says they currently have 94 RTD Transit police officers and hope to raise this number to 120 or 130 by the end of the year.
