Liberty Hill, Texas (KXAN) – after a little more than three months of catastrophic floods destroyed in central Texas, family members held a joint funeral for their loved ones who lost their lives.
The funeral was hosted in the Glad Tilts Church in Liberty Hill and remembered:
The three died after the flood that hit Sandy Kreik in Linder on July 5.
Sherry Makchuchon and Terry Traugot are girls and sisters of my home to Gary and Doug.
“They were a large part of our lives,” said Turgut. “We have always spoken to them. We always had our holidays together.”
“Although they were in the fifties and sixties, they were still the brothers of our children,” said Makchuchon when he was asked about Gary and Doug. “We still call them the children – we remember the day they were in the fourth.”
Dawn Slack, who was a priest at the Glad Tilts Church in Liberty Hill from 2010 to 2021, said she remembers the nature of Betty Love.
“I went back in December, she was very sick, so we went and visited her, and she said, dawn, do you remember what you promised … You promise that when you disintegrate, you will do my funeral,” Slak said. “I was not ready for her to leave us, because she was living a lot of life in it.”
After a funeral, Betty, Gary and Doug were buried in the Baghdad Cemetery in Linder.
