Arlington, Texas (AP)-Texas Rangers rented Skip Schumaker as a four-year director, and agreed to a four-year contract with the former NL manager for this year, who was in their organization last year.
The Schumaker deal was announced after Chris Young, head of the baseball operations, had confessed earlier in the day that Rangers focused on an internal candidate in their research to replace Bruce Bushi. Shomker has been in a major consultative role with the team since last November.
The 45-year-old Schumaker was the 2023 general manager of the year when Miami went 84-78 and showed the fourth appearance after the season in the club’s history. It was in the same year in Texas, with Bushi in his first appearance there, the only world championship in the world won.
“While I got a good understanding of the organization through a league in the front office last season, the talks with Chris Young, (General Manager) Ross Vintereaker, and others this week have increased my interest in this opportunity,” Schumker said in a statement. “I can’t wait to start working for 2026.”
The 70 -year -old Rangers and Bochy, the world champion in the world championship four times, who was winning the active baseball game, on Monday to finish his administrative work. This was the next day to finish Texas 81-81 from his second record, not winning since his heroism. Bushi was at the end of his contract for three years.
Marilyn’s sliding to 62-100 in 2024 after changes in the front office and with a list of trading and injuries. Schumker and the team agreed that it will not return this season.
Then Texas rented this consultative position, a step that many see as making it a clear heir to Bochy.
“We are pleased to announce this promotion and overcome the leadership of this club in the hideout,” Young said in a statement. “During his last year, as a great advisor to our baseball operations group, SKIP has proven to be paid, emotional and comprehensive in everything he does. He has a profitable spirit and crew, and we are lucky because someone is very appreciated in the industry has agreed to become our manager.”
Rangers became the first eight teams in the main league to fill an administrative vacancy. Young will not say earlier in the day if any other teams have requested permission to speak with Shumaker.
Before going to Miami, the Schumaker was in the San Diego team from 2018-21, then he was a coach in St. Louis, where he played with the Cardinals while winning the 2011 World Championships against Texas. He played 11 great seasons in the league with Saint Louis (2005-12), Los Angeles Dodgers (2013) and Cincinnati (2014-15).
The Schumaker will take over the Rangers team, for the first time in the history of this year, led the majors in the afternoon (3.47), and will return the starting jacob Jacob Dejum, Nathan Yovalde and Jack liter. Texas also set a record in MLB in one season with the field ratio.
But Rangers ranked 26th in the majors with an average beating.
Young said earlier on Friday: “It was sweet and a little. “But there is a lot to look forward to moving forward, and I think there is a lot of optimism that this will be corrected quickly. I mean, we are not talking about a jump of 20 games here to make the qualifiers.”
Fenstermaker said that while Schumaker lived on the West Coast, he was very involved with the team in its consultative role.
“He spent time with us and many different people in the front office, adding his point of view and wisdom. He was present and has a lot.” “We may have talked to him every few days, if not daily, throughout the year and ideas bounce about him and get his point of view.”
Bochy showed a consultant role in the Rangers front office. It can also be in a line of such a position with San Francisco Giants, although he is not a candidate for the administrative opening of the team that led him to the World Championship titles in 2010, 12 and 14.
With 2,252 wins, Bochy ranks sixth among the main league managers, with five in the Biblical Hall. It was 249-237 with Rangers.
