Patton Rouge, Los Angeles (AP)-Matt Jimmy Swigart, who has become a familiar name, is a familiar name that extends to a huge follow-up ministry and a ministry of millions of dollars only to decline by his tendency to prostitutes.
Swaggart died decades after his vast audience diminished and his name became a line on TV late at night. His death was announced on Tuesday on his Facebook page. There was no reason immediately, although in 90 he was in a bad health condition.
Louisiana’s citizen is famous for being a captivating preacher of a preaching for decades, but with the audience’s decline.
Swaggart packed his fall in the 1988 sermon of tears, where he cried and apologized, but he did not indicate his relationship with the prostitute.
“I made a mistake against you,” Swaggart told PARICISHIONERERATRERS. “I ask you to forgive me.”
He announced his resignation from the associations of God later that year, shortly after the Church said it was keen to reject the punishment that he ordered for “moral failure.” The church wanted to undergo a two -year rehabilitation program, including not preaching for a whole year.
Swaggart said at the time that he knows that the separation is inevitable, but he insisted that he had no choice but to separate from the church to save his ministry and the Bible College.
From poverty and oil fields to a family name
Swaggart grew up poor, son of a preacher, in a music -rich family. He was distinguished in piano and gospel, playing and singing with the talented cousins who took different paths: Rock-Roller Jerry Lewis and rural singer Micky Jelly.
Swaggart said in his hometown in Ferreday, Louisiana, he first heard God’s call at the age of eight. The sound gave him the bumps of the goat and made his hair.
He said in an interview with him in 1985 with the Jacksonville Journal Corriere in Illinois. “I felt an improvement inside. Almost like showering.”
He preached and worked part -time in the oil fields until he was 23 years old. Then he moved completely to his ministry: preaching, playing the piano and singing the songs of the Bible with the enthusiasm of Louis’s cousin in God’s societies and camps meetings.

“If you do not like what I am saying, he spoke to my managers,” he cried once wandering in front of his group in the center of his family worship in Patton Rouge, where his sermons moved the listeners to speak in tongues and stand as if he had the Holy Spirit.
Swaggart messages sparked thousands of retirees and millions of TV viewers, making it a familiar name by the late 1980s. The shareholders built the ministries of Jimmy Swaggart in a company that made $ 142 million in 1986.
The Baton Rouge Complex still includes a center of worship and broadcasting and recording facilities.
The scandals that led to the ruin of Swaggart
Swaggart’s fall came in the late eighties of the last century, when other prominent preachers faced similar scandals. Swigart publicly said that his profits were injured in 1987 by the sex scandal surrounding TV competitor, Jim Bakr and former church secretary at the PTL organization in Bakker.
The following year, Swaggart was photographed at a hotel with Debra Murphree, a recognized prostitute who told the reporters that the two did not have sex, but that the preacher prompted her to a naked situation.
She later repeated the claim – and a bare offering – to the Benthaus Magazine.
It seems that the Swaggart profession stems from his competition with the preacher Marvin Gorman, who was accused by Swaggart of sexual columns. Gorman rented the photographer who seized Swaggart and Murphree in the movie. Swaggart later Gorman paid $ 1.8 million to settle a lawsuit for sexual allegations against Gorman.
More troubles came in 1991, when the California police were detained with another prostitute. The missionary was accused of driving on the wrong side of the road and the leadership of Jaguar is not registered. His companion, Rosemary Garcia, said that Swaggart became tense when he saw the police car and weave when he tried to get porn magazines under the car seat.
Swaggart later mocked the late Phil Hartman, who impersonated the character “Saturday Night Live”.
