State leaders react after 'credible threat' to legislators at Texas Capitol, violence in Minnesota

ASAN (KXAN) – State leaders’ reaction to the “trusted threat” of legislators in the states in Texas Capitol as a protest was “no kings” that was expected to start at 5 pm on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, the Texas Ministry of Public Safety said that the construction and causes of the cabetol were evacuated and closed on Saturday after investigating the trusted threat.

DPS also confirmed shortly before 5 pm that one person has been detained with regard to the threat.

This comes after a former spokeswoman in Minnesota and state deputy Melissa Hortmann and her husband were killed, and Senator John Hoffman and his wife were in critical condition. The governor of the state of Minnesota Tim Walz said it was a “political assassination.”

Since the trusted threat and violent actions in the state of Minnesota are the headlines of the newspaper, the state leaders began to respond to the news:

Ruler of Greg Abbott

A spokesman for the ruler Greg Abbott issued this official statement to KXan:

“The ruler and the first lady completely condemn the famous violence in Minnesota and call for the families of Hortman and Hoffman during this difficult time. State officials must be able to procedure free of their fees from political intimidation. The ruler has been informed of the possibility of negative threats in Texas.

The ruling Lieutenant Dan Patrick

The ruling Lieutenant Dan Patrick He took to social media Saturday, saying the following:

“What happened in Minnesota is a tragedy and our prayers come out to families and friends and those affected. Only today, a reliable threat has been clarified to kill members of the Legislative Authority in Texas in Capitol. I urge everyone to take appropriate precautions and enjoy warning the Ministry of Public Safety in Texas so that this threat is not active.

The threats of death are unfortunately part of the service in public life today. Legislators do not talk about this often, but the state gets dozens of threats per month. Most of them turn into people who go far in emails or calls. They quickly retracted when they face the prosecution that they do not really mean this, but all of them should be taken seriously. There is a difference between the freedom of expression complaints, which we welcome, and we face death threats. The latter can be a crime. What happened today in Minnesota was an absolute criminal act and a tragic loss of life. “

Representative Rita Powers

Representative Rita Powers, Darland, issued a statement condemning violent actions in Minnesota:

“Today, our nation has witnessed an indescribable work of political violence with the assassination of former House Speaker Melissa Hortmann and the shooting of Senator John Hoffman in Minnesota.

As a widespread person worked on internal security and public safety issues, I saw the increasing threats targeting elected officials throughout our country. Today’s events are a tragic reminder that these threats are not abstract – they are real, ascending, and they strike in the heart of our democracy.

Political violence has no place in America. We can disagree, we can discuss, and we can even stand enthusiastically on both sides of the issue – but violence should not be the solution. Public service should never come at the expense of our safety or life.

I pray to recover Senator Hoffman, for the Hortman family in their unimaginable sadness, and for each of the meaningless tragedy. I also call for law enforcement to quickly bring the perpetrator to justice and all of us as a nation to adhere to the support of peace, stinging and democratic ideals that we keep.

We must do better. Our democracy depends on this. “
