State Department may require visa applicants to post bond of up to $15,000 to enter the US

Washington – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggests asking applicants for business and tourism to publish bonds of up to $ 15,000 to enter the United States, a step that may make the process unreasonable for many.

In a notice published in the federal registry on Tuesday, the administration said it will start a 12 -month experimental program, according to which people can have high traffic rates and security controls internal documents suffering from a shortage of bonds worth $ 5,000, 10,000 dollars or 15,000 dollars when they apply for a visa.

The proposal comes because the Trump administration tightens the requirements of the visa applicants. Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that many applicants for renewing the visa will have to undergo an additional personal interview, which was not required in the past. In addition, the administration suggests that the applicants for the Lottery program for the visa diversity have valid passports from their citizenship country.

A preview of the notification of the bonds, which was published on the federal registry website on Monday, said that the experimental program will be valid within 15 days of its official publication and is necessary to ensure that the United States government is financially inappropriate if the visitor does not comply with the conditions of his visa.

“Foreigners who apply for visas as temporary visitors to work or pleasure and who are citizens in the countries that the administration set as have high visa rates, where the examination and examination of information is considered incomplete, or submitting citizenship by investing, if the foreigner obtained citizenship without residency requirements, it may be subject to the experimental program,” he said.

She said that the affected countries will be included as soon as the program becomes effective. The bond can be waived depending on the individual conditions of the applicant.

The bond will not apply to the citizens of the two countries registered in the visa assignment program, which allows travel for business or tourism for up to 90 days. Most of the 42 countries registered in the program are in Europe, with others in Asia, the Middle East and other places.

Visa bonds have been proposed in the past but not implemented. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has traditionally inhibited the condition due to the exhausting process of spreading and emptying bonds and due to the wrongful concepts of the public.

However, the administration said that the previous opinion “is not supported by any recent examples or evidence, because the visa bonds were not generally required in any modern period.”
