A student in southern California has been deported in the fourth grade that immigration officials reserved and now lives with his father in Honduras.
Martier Garcia Lara, 9, adapts to his new life in the small town of Temputalpa.
“I was afraid to come here,” participated in Interview with univision.
Lara was a student at the Tounce Elementary School, whose detention sparked anger from the teachers and members of the community who knew the boy.
On May 29, he attended a migration hearing in the center of Los Angeles with his father, Martier Garcia Bingas, 50.
Instead of receiving an update on their immigration status, the boy and his father were detained by the United States for Migration and Customs (ICE). After a short chapter, the next day, they were transferred to a texas immigration facility with plans to deport them to Honduras.
On July 10, 2021, Ice officials left the boy and his father left their hometown and entered the United States illegally on September 1, 2022, the immigration judge ordered the husband to return to Honduras. Garcia Penjas appealed the decision, but on August 11, 2023, the appeal was rejected.
However, the boy and his father did not leave the country as it was ordered, and during the immigration session in the center of Los Angeles, Ice said.
The news of the boy’s detention had gathered teachers and members of society together to find a way to help the couple stay in the country. Lara has been a student at Torrance Elementary since the first grade.
However, federal officials said that the father and son “exhausted legal procedures and did not remain any legal treatment for follow -up.”
Just a few days ago, they landed in Honduras. The 9 -year -old said he misses his life in Torrance and works to adapt to his new reality.
“I want to see my friends again,” Lara said. “I miss all my friends.”
The boy’s father said he hoped that his case will be reviewed in the future. Meanwhile, he works to provide his son as best as he can.
“They are cruel to people,” said Garcia Bingas about the ice raids in Los Angeles. “All of this – it’s inhumane.”
