Sonja Morgan Breaks Silence on Why She Was Hauled Off in an Ambulance at Florida Restaurant!
Sonja Morgan is setting the record straight following a dramatic evening in Palm Beach that ended with the Real Housewives of New York alum being wheeled out of a restaurant in an ambulance.
Days after making headlines for allegedly being blacklisted from a New York City hotspot for not paying a hefty bill — a claim she has since addressed and resolved — the reality star found herself in the center of a new incident while dining out in Florida. In a statement to People, Sonja Morgan explained that her unexpected ambulance ride had nothing to do with any drama over a meal, but rather stemmed from her efforts to help a fellow restaurant guest in need.
“An elderly patron at the restaurant I was dining at appeared to be in distress, and I called for medical assistance,” Sonja shared.
“While assisting during the commotion, I sustained some minor injuries and, out of an abundance of caution, accompanied the EMTs to be checked out.”
While she didn’t go into detail about the nature of the “commotion,” witnesses claimed the scene became tense. According to one source, Sonja appeared “seemingly upset while loudly speaking to responding officers” before ultimately being placed on a stretcher and taken away in an ambulance.
Still, Sonja insists her concern was only for the other woman. “I didn’t want to leave,” she said. “I insisted on making sure she was cared for.” The Palm Beach Police Department later confirmed officers and EMTs responded to a medical call at the restaurant around 9:45 p.m. and were on site for less than an hour.
The incident comes shortly after Sonja was banned from Tucci, a restaurant in New York City, after allegedly causing a scene and expecting her $1,000 bill to be waived.
At the time, Tucci owner Max Tucci claimed Sonja told staff, “I’m a celebrity. I don’t pay. Why did you give me a bill?”
Sonja later clarified the situation, saying it stemmed from a misunderstanding about a promotional exchange and that she ultimately paid the bill. Despite the recent flurry of headline-making moments, the RHONY alum appears to be brushing off the drama with her signature flair — and focusing on the positive.
