Denver (KDVR) – The soccer acquisition in McGregor was on Saturday, where the official fans celebrated this week for the upcoming women’s professional team to Denver next year, Denver Sumit.
The team hosted an event for party parties for the fans to get their hands on the Merch team for the first time and participate in the excitement building for their first season.
Fox31 got the opportunity to speak with enthusiastic fans at the Block Party party and talk about everything about the women’s professional football team.
“I am excited to see how they play and how they do,” said Vinley Kaman, the second grade of Golden.
Caman and her sister, Eloise Camann, waited in the huge crowd to buy team equipment they plan to wear for future games.
“We have stood in the Merch line for an hour, but it’s worth it because we got these amazing scarves,” Elliz said.
Eloise said that with a large crowd, as was the case for a Block party, she believes the team will not suffer from a lack of support and may “break some records” during the next season.
While the fans chanted in anticipation of their new team, Elosie feels inspiration because they and the other girls in the crowd may be at the recipient of these chants in the future.
“I think it will be great for young soccer players to see these girls playing there, so they may want to be there one day,” she says.
Lucy Crandall, the fifth grade student from Arvada, also attended the Bloc Party. She agreed with Kaman’s sisters, grateful for seeing mathematical women represented in the largest stage for the first time in her original mandate.
“I am currently giving in Portland Shokat, which is so great that I can get a team from where I meet,” says Crandall.
As part of the event, Mayor Mike Johnston said this was an important step for Denver.
“We have always thought that this was the best sports city in America,” Johnston said. “But you cannot be the best sports city until you have a sporting franchise for women.”
Speaking of the records, Denver Sumit FC has already broke one earlier this year, becoming the fastest team in the history of the National Women’s Football League to pass 5,000 seasonal ticket deposits. The team will first take the field in March 2026.
