DENVER (KDVR) — It’s almost the spookiest time of the year, but if you’re really afraid of snow on Halloween, you might be in luck this year.
Temperatures are dropping as we approach the end of October, the first freeze is expected soon, and the first snowfall is not far away. Although winter weather is right around the corner, it probably won’t come on Halloween.
Snow on Halloween is uncommon in Denver.
On average, the first measurable snowfall in Denver falls on October 18, according to the Pinpoint Weather team, with the first snowfall on September 8 and the last snowfall on November 17. While the first snow usually falls before Halloween, it rarely falls on October 31.
based on National Weather Service Records: It has snowed a trace or more 23 times in Denver on Halloween and 16 days with snow on the ground since 1882. So, historically, there is only a 16% chance of snow on Halloween.
Will it snow on Halloween in Denver?
In recent years, Denver saw only minor amounts of snow in 2018 and 2007. The last measurable snowfall was on Halloween in 2002 with 1.2 inches. This year, FOX31 meteorologist Travis Michels said it looks like another year without snow on Oct. 31.
Forecast models for two weeks are dry and clear, and on Halloween, the entire state is not expected to see snow, Michels said. Denver likely won’t see snow until November of this year based on forecasts. However, these models are in place after about two weeks, and the forecast may change.
