Sneak peak inside the Bay Area's newest Korean supermarket

Daly, California (Crohn– Years have passed in the preparation phase, but the Korean supermarket is finally opened on Friday at the Ceramonte Center in Daly. Jagalchi is the All-In-One Grocery and restaurant that has long been located in 2019.

The supermarket will extend across 75,000 square feet, including Bakery Basquia and Pogu Restaurant led by Michelin Star Tony Yu. Before its large opening to the public on Friday, Kron4 made an exclusive tour of Jagalchi on Thursday (photos below).

Some of the most prominent grocery stores include a department dedicated to Korean beauty products. There is also a hot and ready section, where shoppers can capture traditional Korean dishes like Tteok-Bokki (boiled rice cake).

Perhaps the largest clouds to the supermarket is the restaurant placed in the middle of the grocery store – visible when the guest goes to the main front entrance. Under Yoo, Pogu opens its first location and can sit more than 100 guests.

Why did Yoo-whistling a popular chef decide to open inside the grocery store? Yu said that one of the reasons is that Gagali is full of fresh ingredients of Korea.

“It is an ideal location. If you want the cabbage, you got it. If you need more beef, I can get it there,” Yu told Kron4 with a muffled laugh. “Food is all about the ingredients.

“Inside the grocery store, why not?”

The chef also owns Dorio in Seoul. Yoo rose in popularity as a chef after it appeared in Michelin’s guide in 2019. It is the first Korean to win the Michelin star.

The opening was met with a great anticipation of the local population, as it was delayed several times. It was first reported that the target opening date will be at the end of 2024. Then, construction delays led to the opening to February before the official of March 28.
