SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A Los Angeles singer who was arrested at San Francisco International Airport in June 2024 with more than 14 pounds of methamphetamine was sentenced Monday to two years in county prison, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Juan Paz Guzman, 24, pleaded no contest to a Sept. 8, 2025, charge of possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of sale and admitted an enhanced allegation of carrying more than 4 kilograms. The plea deal would have put Paz Guzman in prison for more than six years; However, the District Attorney’s Office said on Monday Judge Kevin Dunleavy issued an overweight ruling and sentenced him to two years in prison.
On June 26, 2024, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent at SFO was conducting random bag searches when he searched Paz Guzman’s two bags. Under a false bottom in two pieces of luggage, the agent found five heat-sealed packages of methamphetamine, prosecutors said.
The 14.2 pounds of methamphetamine seized is worth $17,040, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
