Shia LaBeouf arrested after allegedly assaulting 2 men in New Orleans

New Orleans (KABC) — Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans after he assaulted two men, according to police.

He faces two counts of simple battery, the New Orleans Police Department said in a statement to ABC News on Tuesday.

Investigators say LaBeouf assaulted the two men outside a business on Royal Street.

“At approximately 12:45 a.m. on February 17, 2026, NYPD officers were called to the 1400 block of Royal Street in response to a simple assault where two victims (two adult males) reported being assaulted,” police stated. “Investigators say a man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a business on Royal Street.”

According to the statement, a Royal Street employee attempted to remove LaBeouf, 39, from the establishment, and once outside, the actor struck one of the victims “with closed fists” multiple times.

The “Transformers” star then left the area but returned and allegedly continued to act aggressively, at which point “multiple people” attempted to restrain him, police said.

“He was eventually released in hopes that he would leave, but he reportedly struck the same victim again with his fists to the victim’s upper body,” the department stated. “LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person and punched him in the nose.”

According to police, LaBeouf was again restrained and “pinned down” until officers arrived at the scene. The actor was later taken to the hospital “to treat unspecified injuries” before he was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery, the department said.

The accident occurred amid Lundi Gras celebrations in New Orleans.
