El Sobrante, California (Kron)-Community members met Friday night to protest against the arrest of Jeddah Immigration and Customs (ICE) in the East Gulf, demanding its release.
Her family says she does not have a criminal record, but she was arrested on Monday during a routine arrival to immigration.
More than a hundred people are packed at the El SBRANTE intersection to protest against Harjit Kaur detention. Her family says she was taken while asking about the medicine, and now they are worried about her health and safety in the Ice custody.
“We are wreckage now,” said Mangit Core, the detained woman’s son -in -law. “Our family does not wear well. Her son – my husband – was not able to speak … it is very emotional to hold your mother and you are very powerless.”
Family members say that Harright was detained in the San Francisco Immigration Court while routing with her granddaughter.
“My sister here – it was she who took her on that day to register with the ice. I waited for hours and hours alone until she received the call … she was in a complete shock,” said Sukdib Core, one of the granddaughters of the detained woman.
Harright moved to the United States 30 years ago from India. Her family says she has no criminal record and she was attending regular immigration checks every six months.
“It was a totally nightmare, as we were going to ice for 13 years,” said Mangit Core. “We did not think that anything like this would happen.”
Now the family is pleading with ICE, supported by a society behind them.

“It is not a threat to anyone,” said Sotheette Core. “It is not a threat to this country. She is a diligent woman – all we ask for is her release.”
“We only need her home, she is a grandmother. If it can happen to her, this may happen to any of us,” said Dr. Bouja Thacar, the daughter of the detained woman’s sister.
Family members say they barely heard from Harjit and worried about how to enter it in the detention center.
“We don’t know what the condition you hold. Do she get her medicine? Do you get anything to eat?” Mangit Core said. “We do not want her to be in a detention center due to living conditions. She does not do good, and her health will deteriorate only at a rapid rate if we do not get it out of there.”
Congress member John Garamandi also attended the assembly. He issued a statement by Kron4 saying: “His office will do everything possible to support her case and family.”
