Shedeur Sanders Reveals Main Goal He Wants To Accomplish After Impressing in Browns Training Camp

Shedeur Sanders has been put through the ringer, but he’s maintained a 1,000-kilowatt smile and an upbeat demeanor (in public, at least) through his first few months in the NFL. Even after the most significant draft fall in recent memory, he’s been amicable, transparent, and willing to engage with the press and the community.

So, it’s no surprise that he was willing to play along, even when it was right after a grueling day of practice.

How Is Shedeur Sanders Adjusting to Life with the Cleveland Browns?

Sports Illustrated’s Michael Fabiano caught up with Sanders at the Cleveland Browns’ training camp and got him to talk about how camp is going, what he sees from his teammates, and what he hopes to accomplish as he battles for a roster spot.

When discussing his teammates, Sanders offered measured praise. “I’m seeing greatness. It’s a lot of great players we have on the team. O-line, everybody’s doing their job,” he said. “It’s not legendary yet, man. It’s not there yet. We’re working to get that way.”

As for his transition into the NFL, Sanders keeps things straightforward. “Transition’s been cool. Of course (there have been) ups and downs and everything, but I feel like once you switch the mentality, anything in life, then you should abide (by) it then.”

He doesn’t wax philosophical about his situation. Instead, Sanders sticks to the basics when asked what he’s looking forward to most in training camp.

“What I’m looking forward to most? I say just getting reps. You know, that’s it,” Sanders explained. “Completing the football. Doing my job.”

However, even Sanders has his limits. When asked what he loves about Cleveland, he humorously loses it: “It’s hard to even think outside, bro, we just got done with practice. I did a lot of thinking today. (laughs) I can’t even go deep in the bag right now.”

What Do Sanders’ Training Camp Numbers Tell Us?

Sanders has been completing a lot of passes in workouts. As reported by ESPN Cleveland, Sanders completed 20 of 31 passes for three touchdowns in the first week of training camp.

Despite his solid performance, Sanders has been limited to running with the second team while Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel have been splitting reps with the first team.

That situation might change soon. On Sunday, it was reported that Pickett strained his hamstring during practice on Saturday. This development could lead to Sanders getting his first rounds of reps with the first team.

The Browns’ first preseason game is August 8 against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
