SF school district to announce cuts amid budget shortfall

San Francisco (KON) – San Francisco’s unified school on Tuesday can decide on staff. The boycott faces millions of dollars in a budget deficit and discounts can come to the boycott office.

SFUSD Superintendent Maria su suggests restructuring the boycott office and eliminating jobs. Restructuring can affect hundreds of employees.

Last summer, the region was considering closing schools due to the decrease in enrollment in compensation for a $ 100 million deficit. This did not happen. Instead, the supervisor who suggested the closure resigned at that time, Matt Wayne.

The region has lost more than 4000 students since 2017.

SU was appointed by the former San Francisco mayor London. Soo said that the job cuts are coming, but it does not get rid of any teachers.

“I am completely committed to ensuring that we have an accredited teacher in each of our classrooms so that we can achieve the goals of achieving the results of the students that our council has set for us,” Su said.

In order to reduce the budget by $ 114 million, SU said they would cancel some advisers, advisers and employees of the provincial office.

Unions representing school staff against workers’ demobilization. They call for the sizes of smaller seasons and competitive wages.

“These are not optional luxuries, it is the lifeline,” said a common message from the SFUSD unions earlier this month. “The elimination of vital employees will increase greatly from the burden on teachers, many of whom actually extend beyond the ability.”

The SF Education Council will meet at 5 pm on Tuesday. It is up to the council to agree to any discounts.
