SF museum slashes 5% of staff following declining attendance

((Crohn– The museum announced on Friday that the museums of fine arts in San Francisco plans to close dozens of roles.

The director and executive director of the museum, Thomas B. Campbell, the decision to reduce roles was difficult in a statement issued on the museum’s website.

Campbell said: “Our employees are the heart of our museums. They are the rulers of our mission. We understand the sensitivity of this position for all those affected, directly and indirectly, and we feel deep gratitude to many of the contributions of our former team members during their time with us.”

The CEO said that immediately after these roles was due to a “expected budget gap” and to ensure long -term financial stability. The presence of the museum, according to Campal, has decreased by almost 20 % since the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This decision has not been taken lightly, and months of planning for the scenario, strict financial analysis, and wide deliberations by the executive leadership of museums and secretaries,” said Campbell.

The 12th positions represent 5 % of the Fine Arts Museum employees and about 3.5 % of the total workforce in the museum, for each Campbell.
