(Kron)-A second victim’s body was found in the charred antiquities of a 19-unit residential complex in San Rafael, in which the fire caught on the morning of August 21.
The San Rafael Police Administration announced on Friday that the investigators discovered the remains of an unidentified victim. On Sunday evening, the crew found an unknown second victim at this time.
“Late this evening, while working through the severely damaged apartments complex, there was a dead victim again,” said San Rafael Police Administration. “The deceased seems to be an adult. Because of the existing residue, no immediate identity can be determined.”
Two people were announced missing after the fire, and dozens of residents were displaced. Officials have not confirmed whether the bodies found are connected to the lost bends. Marin Coroner Province Office is working to determine the remains.
“This process will take some time and we ask for patience during this process,” SRPD said.
Officials announced the “suspicious” fire on Friday. SRPD requests the audience to help get more information about the fire. Witnesses or people who have pictures or video of fire are required to call SRPD. Investigators specifically care about the pictures of the building, which is taken between 5 and 5:30 am on August 21.
SRPD said: “On behalf of the city of San Raphael and the first respondents in the scene, we express our condolences to families, friends and neighbors affected by this tragedy.”
