San Leandro BART station fire causes service disruptions Tuesday

Saint -Landro, California (Crohn) – San Landro Bart Station was closed on Tuesday morning while firefighters respond to electric fire on the platform. The closure was announced by the Bay Area Rapid Transit District area at 5:09 am

Obour officials said that the blue, green and orange line service from Bart between Perisa and Dublin/Blazanton and Lake Merritt was stopped by the fire. Passengers are recommended to search for alternative forms of transportation.

The electric fire in the burn continued from 6:45 am, the embers were seen falling from the high platform and igniting more small fires on the ground below.

PG & E crews at the scene to ensure energy closure to the station. More than 2500 PG & E in San Leandro is not without energy from 6:26 am, according to the power outages map.

The bus service is provided by AC Transit between Lake Merritt and Fremont stations, according to Bart. VTA provides mutual assistance between MilPitas and Berryssa stations. There are no buses currently stopping at San Leandro Bart due to the fire management activity.

Witnesses said that they saw a great flame and slogans that fly around 5 am

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There is no time to reopen San Leandro Bart and resume all lines. Part officials said the yellow and red lines are not affected.
