San Jose's 'Christmas in the Park' needs money

San Jose, California (Crohn) – He faces the famous “Christmas in the Garden” in San Jose’s financial challenges.

They are currently about $ 250,000 under the budget, and they also need to finish the touches on a new contract with the city of San Jose by the end of the month.

Spring fully flourishes in Cesar Chavez Plaza, but people who put “Christmas in the garden” every year say they are already thinking of vacations.

“In every holiday season, you can rely on” Christmas in the Garden “to convert the Plaza de Caesar Chavez in San Jose to the Winter Wonderland.”

Deby Digotis, the administrative director of Christmas in the park, says that chanting holidays will continue this year, but difficult times awaiting us.

“We are about to deficit 250,000, and this is a real challenge to us,” said Digotis.

This is about 15 to 20 % of their operating budget. Without money, there will be no increase for employees and there are no new attractions for the garden.

“We do not reap money from the ice ski circuit. As a non -profit organization with a free event, we have a narrow budget,” said Digotis.

But they will have to see the holiday chant regardless of.

This week, the city of San Jose announced that it wanted to move forward with a three -year contract for the garden. The mayor Matt Mahan suggested that they find a new area to host the event outside the Plaza de Caesar Chavez.

Fans hope for the Christmas miracle.

One of the residents said: “Christmas in the garden in Cesar Chavez Park is one of the same thing for me, so I hope they will find a way to stay here.”

DeGUTIS says they are always open to donations, but one of the solutions can be $ 20 million in revenues that this event brings to the city center companies.

“I hope they look at this $ 20 million and help us,” said Digotis. “Give me what you can, but we need more help to achieve this. It’s difficult.”

Even if the city wanted to move forward in a Christmas transmission plan in the park to a new site, Kron4 was told that it is a guarantee that it would be at Cesar Chavez Park at least for 2025.
