SAN FRANCISCO (KRONA) – A San Francisco restaurant owner, Azim Maret, was stabbed several times inside his restaurant, Shawarma Azmi, on Saturday evening.
The attacker, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested on felony charges.
Morait identified the woman who attacked him, saying she was not a customer but often brought her own food to eat at his restaurant. Security footage of the incident shows Marit defending himself with a metal bowl while being stabbed.
Moret suffered injuries to his eyebrow, neck and hands during the attack.
“This is the end of my life, so I have to do everything I can,” Morait said, thinking about the attack.
Moraet tried to calm the attacker, saying: “Look, I was already injured. You see my blood on my hands. Calm down. You made it worse. You almost killed me. You almost ended my life.”
Moret explained that the woman regularly visited his restaurant with her own food, which he never minded, but this time she appeared with a friend and showed suspicious behavior.
During the attack, the woman’s two friends vandalized the area behind the front desk, Marit said.
Moret closed the door in the face of the attackers, saying: “I cannot fight… two people, three people… no matter how strong you are.”
San Francisco police arrived after the store’s alarm went off, and Morait expressed gratitude for the support he received from Mayor Daniel Lurie and the community.
“I want to thank the mayor yesterday and the news, everyone who supported me with words, and a lot of good people around me,” Moret said.
