Safeway, Albertsons strike to start at limited locations on Sunday

Denver (KDVR)-Workers will start in some Safeway and Albertsons sites on Sunday, in protest against what workers say are unfair labor practices, short employees stores, and frozen wages.

The Union said on Saturday that the strikes led by UFCW Local 7 will be limited to four cities on Sunday, but will expand as the strike continues.

Strong strike sites include Safeway and Albertsons stores in Estes Park, Pueblo and Fountain, along with a distribution center in Denver.

“It is extremely bad that things have reached this point with Safeway/Albertsons, but unconfirmed workers’ practices, including poor compromise, as well as survey and threatened workers, gave us no choice but a strike,” said Monic Trugilo, a Civawi worker from Founden, Colorado, in a statement.

In May, Albertsons Fox31 made a statement on its ongoing negotiations with the Union.

“In Albertsons companies, we are committed to productive discussions with UFCW Local 7. We respect workers’ rights to engage in collective negotiation and negotiate goodwill to reach a fair agreement for our employees, aim for our customers and allow our company to remain competitive.”

Expanding to expand as it continues

The Federation said that the start of the strike on a limited basis will give the public a “time to understand the problems” that they argue that workers are facing and allowing Safeway and Albertsons time “to understand the danger of workers.”

The Union said that the start of the strike in a limited way would also reduce the difficulties of shoppers and workers.

Al -Ittihad said that it was hoping that the last vote would be that the strike would lead to a “penetration” in the negotiations, but this “did not happen.”

“I hope Safeway/albertsons has taken more serious negotiations, obey the law, and respect the workers who are traded, but I hope it will not make it that,” Kim Kordova, UFCW 7, said in a statement.

The negotiations held on Wednesday did not achieve a “contemplative agreement”, according to the Federation, who said that he then issued a 72 -hour notice that night to start the countdown to end the contract extension agreement.

The strike follows the failed negotiations

The union said the strike comes more than seven months after negotiations with the contract with the grocery in an attempt to negotiate a new contract, which UFCW Local 7 says the end of the original authority in January.

Ufcw Local 7 said that Albertsons and Safeway – a subsidiary of Albertsons that operate under the banner of Albertson companies – initially showed signs of the desire to reach an agreement, but instead, “linking weapons with King Soopers and City Market” in searching for interventions of workers and retirees on fixed deposits.

“Instead of working with the Union, she put Safeway/Albertsons instead of her belief in her supposed competitor KING SOOPERS and City Market in an attempt to reduce health care and pension subsidies for active and retired workers alike,” said Kordova.

The sound of workers in the Denver metro, Bolder, Bromfield, Castle Rock, Pine, Esteis Park, Green, Fountain, Grand Janach, Idaho Springs, Parker, Poiplo, Salida, Starbut Springs, Phil to vote the unreasonable business practices strike at 99 %, according to the Federation.

The voices of the strike were held in late May and early June.

A region at the region’s level that included Kroger’s King Sogers stores due to the urgent work demands earlier this year in February. Ufcw Local 7 said that at the time it was an extension agreement with Safeway/Albertsons.
