The Atlanta Braves ace Ronald Acuña Jr. is anticipated to be activated from the injured list and play in Friday’s series opening against the San Diego Padres in Atlanta, following a nearly year-long recuperation from knee surgery.
Three days remain until the one-year anniversary of the season-ending surgery needed to repair a ruptured left ACL the following week. The fact that Acuña Jr. was left out of the lineup for Triple-A Gwinnett’s game against Louisville on Thursday night is a strong indicator that the Braves intend to activate him.
While fans wait for Acuña Jr.’s activation, his wife, Maria, seems to have already activated herself by doing some serious workouts at the gym.
Maria Activates Her Gym Mode
Maria posted a video on her Instagram story recently with the caption, “Gym is my therapy.” The video shows her toned body in what appears to be a sauna. The sauna is a great way to relax your mind and body after an intense workout session, and that’s exactly what Maria appears to be doing.
In the next Instagram story, she shows off her outfit, which is all black. She has very minimal accessories with one gold band in one hand and a smartwatch in the other. Her hair is tied in a sleek bun.
Maria and Acuña Jr. got married nearly two years ago in 2023. Their wedding was a shotgun wedding because of Maria’s visa situation, which meant that she would have to stay away from the kids and Acuna for 3 months before she could come back to the United States.
Thankfully, nothing like that happened as the happy couple got married very quickly, amidst Acuña Jr. playing a full season. August 31, 2023, is a date that the Braves player will not forget for more than one reason.
First and foremost, he got married that day, and second, it is also when he inked his name into the history books and broke a baseball record. In an away game against the Los Angeles Dodgers the same day, the right fielder helped his team win in a big way.
Acuña Jr. smashed a historic grand slam in the second inning, shattering old records. After hitting a grand slam in the second inning, he took control of the game, becoming the first player in Major League Baseball history to have 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a single season after the shot.
In a romantic gesture to his newly wedded wife, Acuña Jr. penned a message in Spanish on a ticket that he had saved from the game. It began with, “For the rest of my life, I hope you never forget this incredibly special day for us.”
