Residents get trapped in burning Los Angeles apartment building

Many residents needed to rescue after they were detained in a small burn residential building in Los Angeles late on Wednesday night.

The fire was reported in the two -storey structure on the 2600 mass of South Mabil Street around 11:45 pm

It seems that the fire broke out on an apartment on the second floor before spreading quickly to the rest of the building.

“I think it was the kitchen area,” the property owner, Rudi Hernandez. “We are very lucky because everyone managed to get out … There was only one person who suffers a little inhaled smoke, so they were transferred to the hospital.”

A quick response from the firefighters in Los Angeles was needed to safely get everyone out, with up to six people who were rescued from the building.

The officials said that the only patient taken from the scene in an ambulance is expected to be fine.

The Red Cross staff was at the scene to help those who were displaced on the fire. It is not clear when they will be able to return to the building.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
