Resident injured evacuating through window, cat killed in Ventura home fire

The officials explained that a fire in Ventura killed one cat and was wounded by one person on Monday afternoon, according to officials.

Units with the Ventura City Fire Department responded to a call of 2:18 pm, which was reported to be a fire in the 500th Braood Terras mass.

One of the residents, who did not publicly define the officials, was inside the house when the fire broke out.

The person was successfully evacuated by climbing through a window, but they were injured while doing so. VCFD did not immediately provide more details, but he said the victim’s injuries were minor.

The crew arrived to find smoke coming from the windows of one family home, according to the department. Upon entry, firefighters faced a heavy flame on the first floor.

“Because of a quick and aggressive attack on the fire, firefighters managed to stop the fire to destroy the house,” VCFD said in a statement.

The officials said, with the help of animal control, they managed to save one cat involved in the fire.

“Unfortunately, another cat was found later died inside the house,” said VCFD.

The authorities classified the house and exported the residents that they could not return to living there until the Ventura Building and Safety Administration advised it to be safe.

VCFD added that the Red Cross was requested and helped the residents.

No other injuries were reported.
