Reality check: Channing Tatum finally addresses Jax Taylor’s roommate story

Well, here’s a reality check no one saw coming (or maybe we all did). After more than a decade of hearing Jax Taylor tell anyone who’d listen that he once bunked with Channing Tatum in New York City, the Magic Mike star himself has finally weighed in—and let’s just say things got awkward.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on October 6, Channing Tatum was asked point-blank about the Vanderpump Rules alum’s claim that the two were roommates back in their modeling days. The actor didn’t mince words, responding with a firm “Absolutely not” and adding, “I don’t think I ever roommated with him.”

Now, this is where things get interesting. Andy Cohen reminded Tatum of Jax Taylor’s birth name, Jason Cauchi, to see if that rang any bells. The actor explained that while he did live in model houses with multiple guys early in his career, he had no recollection of sharing space with the reality TV personality. Tatum even revealed he got kicked out of his first model house after getting into a fight with one of the guys.

When shown a photo of Jax Taylor, Channing’s reaction was pretty telling. “All models look the same, but he’s a good looking guy,” he said diplomatically, suggesting that maybe they crossed paths if they shared the same agent, but definitely weren’t roommates.

So what’s the backstory here? Jax Taylor first dropped this bombshell back in 2013 on Watch What Happens Live, claiming that Channing Tatum was his first roommate when he moved to New York to pursue modeling. Over the years, he’s repeated the story multiple times, even describing in detail how they lived with other models in a cramped dorm-style apartment, surviving on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

The claim became such a part of Vanderpump Rules lore that fellow cast member Tom Sandoval previously called it out as fiction during the show. But now, hearing it straight from Channing Tatum himself? That’s the final nail in the coffin of this particular tale.

Whether Jax Taylor genuinely misremembered or was stretching the truth for TV drama, one thing’s clear: Channing Tatum is not having it. The actor has officially put this rumor to rest, leaving fans to wonder what other celebrity stories from the reality star might need a fact-check.
