Maxx Crosby has reportedly been battling through injuries all year long, but has consistently stayed on the field for the Las Vegas Raiders, despite their disastrous 2025 NFL season. The franchise still apparently made a significant decision against his wishes ahead of their Week 17 matchup with the New York Giants.
Some insiders have speculated that this indicates a potential offseason trade.
Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Intensify in Week 17 After Raiders’ Decision
NFL insider Ian Rapoport recently gave an update on Crosby’s injury status ahead of the Raiders’ Week 17 game against the Giants. He described the superstar edge rusher as apparently not getting his preferred approach to his current situation.
“Raiders star Maxx Crosby was informed that he’ll be out Sunday vs. the Giants because of the knee injury he’s been battling since October. LV made the decision with Crosby’s best interest in mind, though the Pro Bowler has been fighting to play and wants to play,” reported Rapoport.
He has reportedly been battling through a knee injury for several weeks and wants to continue doing so to finish out the season. The Raiders apparently have other plans for him, presumably because they are eliminated from playoff contention anyway.

Jay Glazer followed up on the report that the franchise has decided to hold him out of game action, while also discussing his reaction to it and what it could mean for his future in Las Vegas.
“Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building
Fox has learned. This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas,” shared Glazer.

Upsetting arguably their biggest star is a questionable move by the Raiders, who are not only out of the playoff race but are in the mix for the top seed in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Some may speculate that they are trying to lose to get the best pick possible, but if it results in their superstar edge rusher wanting to get out, it could be more of a loss than a victory.
He is already in an undesirable position of being one of the best players in the NFL, currently ranking second among all edge players in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, but essentially stuck on one of the worst teams.
He has been involved in trade rumors previously, but to his credit, he has remained loyal to the Raiders. This could theoretically add to his frustrations, as they reportedly shut him down against his wishes.
