(Krona) – Parents are demanding 450 students at the Elementary School in East Palo Alto answers about the reason for the closure of their school next year.
The Elementary School Council announced the closure in April. Parents say that the advertisement came as a surprise and without any explanation. They are asking for more transparency from the elementary school council.
Three -year -old Renisha Hunt is among the hundreds of students at primary school. She says she and other parents have learned about closing the school in zooming.
“I called my mother yet and it was like, what do I do? Because he was on the waiting list since he was in my stomach,” says Hunt. “I think I was cutting the zoom link after that. I was like,” I have finished at this point. “
The school was founded in 2016 by the founder of Meta, the wife of Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, and was funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
Parents say they are upset that Chan did not contact them directly.
“It was difficult for them to hear her from faculty and had no,” says Hunt. “You were not on the takbeer. You were not attending it.”
The son and daughter of Kelly Whiteley’s sister attended the school. She even says that the employees seemed confused.
“Since I heard the news, I spoke with two different employees and it was a shock to them,” Witley says. “It was a surprise. Everyone is very disappointed about it.”
Carson Cook is the first director of strategy and progress at the elementary school. He says he is also upset but focuses on finishing the last academic year.
“It is a moment of sadness,” says Cook. “Every time you walk through these doors, there is a lot of energy, there is a lot of life. It’s a school, isn’t it? It is a really happy place.”
Hunt says that she and other parents feel despair in an attempt to save their school and have no other option but to move forward.
Hunt says: “O comrades, you still say,” It is closed, there is nothing to do, “There is no way to collect donations to keep it open,” There are no alternatives to keep it open and stay on his feet – so this is what it is, let him go. “
The primary school council has an educational savings plan 529 for all students who will support future learning – which means that they will work with parents throughout the year to prepare accounts so that their children can use funds for education.
