Porsha Williams’ Ex Simon Guobadia Deported to Nigeria

While Porsha Williams has been navigating a high-profile divorce, her estranged husband, Simon Guobadia, has faced an even more dramatic chapter: deportation. After spending months in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, the 61-year-old businessman has now been sent back to his home country of Nigeria.

According to Us Weekly, Guobadia was recently released from the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia — a facility known for housing immigrants targeted under mass deportation efforts. Tai Savet, Guobadia’s friend and business partner, confirmed that he “was sent on a flight back home a couple of days ago,” and described Guobadia as being in “good spirits” despite the ordeal. It was reportedly his first time ever behind bars.

Though his detainment has stirred headlines, Guobadia doesn’t appear to harbor resentment over the situation. Savet told Us that Guobadia is “not mad at President Donald Trump,” and even expressed interest in a sit-down meeting with the former president.

His immigration history is complex. Guobadia first moved to the United States in 1982 but allegedly overstayed his visa — not once, but twice. In 1992, he was deported but was later granted permanent residency that same year under what WSB-TV described as an “undisclosed identity.” He made multiple attempts to gain U.S. citizenship, but each effort was denied.

Despite his legal struggles, Guobadia is looking ahead. He and his team are launching a new business venture aimed at helping those still in ICE custody. According to Savet, the initiative will include selling shirts to support detained immigrants.

Meanwhile, the divorce between Guobadia and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams continues to unfold. Williams filed for divorce in February 2024 after just 15 months of marriage. The couple has been embroiled in legal disputes, particularly over the exclusive use of their marital home. A judge recently ruled in Williams’ favor, granting her temporary exclusive access to the residence until the final divorce decision is made.

The two are also clashing over the prenuptial agreement signed before their November 2022 wedding. A divorce hearing scheduled for this week will proceed with Guobadia appearing virtually due to his deportation — a complication that has already caused several delays.

With deportation now behind him, Simon Guobadia’s next battle will play out in court, while Williams remains focused on securing her future at home.
