(Kron) – Police in the eastern Gulf warns of the audience of the callers who are protesting recently and who are pretending to be local medical sponsors.
According to the Freemont Police Department, the callers claim that the victim has a scheduled medical procedure and demands personal information or payment. Fraud people may request insurance numbers, social security numbers or bank account information.
The authorities said that the fraudsters may use a false sense of urgency, such as informing them of urgent medical issues or suspended bills that require an immediate solution. “The fraudsters may threaten to arrest the victim or end the coverage if the money is not sent.”
Another red mark involved deliberately involves using technical terms to form credibility and confusing victims. “The fraudsters may use the conditions for artistic sounding, refer to medical procedures, insurance claims, bills or policies,” according to Freemon Police.
The authorities advised members of the community that the fraudsters can deal with the caller identifier, so it is not possible to trust the phone calls that appear from a medical provider without further verification. Police said it could have limited personal information about their victims to show trustworthy.
“As in many fraud operations, the person who is often defrauded will demand a payment through an unknown method, such as buying gift cards, prepaid discount cards, wired transfers, cash withdrawals or cryptocurrencies,” said Fremont PD. “The fraudsters often prefer these methods because it is difficult to follow and it is impossible to reversible as soon as the victim discovers the fraud.”
