Austin – PFLUGERVILLE FIRE DePartment (PFD) experience an alert system that tells firefighters about accidents – without amazing.
The tried system is called in PFD Easealert. Specifically, within the easealert ecological system, PFD uses watches that vibrate to attract the attention of firefighters.
“When a call comes, [the watch] “It will vibrate and inform me that there is an ultimatum, then I have the ability to come towards the truck or station,” said Trevor Stock, Commander of the Pflugerville Fire Department (Travis County ESD 2).
Stoxus said it is important to improve the way the firefighter alerts to reduce stress.
“When traditional alert systems explode, members of the firefighting administration suffer from an increase in the heart rate – to the point of inconvenient heart rate.” Stokes said.
Stoxus also said they were trying to softer lights, gentle warnings and a bed that vibrates to alert firefighters.
The head of the Austin Fire Fire Association, Bob Nix, said that investing in technology that helps firefighters is a step in the right direction.
“Mental health firefighters are a real emerging issue in our industry,” Nix said. “We have been suicide in the fire extinguishing department in Austin – the fourth – in the past few years – six years – all linked to jobs.”
As a former head of the battalion, Nicks emphasized the need to reduce the stresses while he said it was really a stressful job.
“We want to know all kinds of treatments that we can do to reduce this tension, to keep our employees,” Nix said.
There is a voluntary therapeutic facility for helping firefighters to deal with the pressures related to work called the Excellence Center in the International Firefighters Association. The organization helps firefighters to deal with post -traumatic disorder and other behavioral health challenges.
