Though ABC has lifted its suspension on Jimmy Kimmel and will welcome his show back on its airwaves later tonight, the story is far from over. Conservative television affiliates are still refusing to broadcast Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and we still have yet to hear from Donald Trump or his FCC boogeyman, Brendan Carr. From the perspective of one of Trump’s most prominent backers, however, the right needs to tread carefully.
“I definitely don’t think that the government should be involved, ever, in dictating what a comedian can or cannot say in a monologue,” Joe Rogan proclaimed while discussing the Kimmel situation during Tuesday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. “That’s fucking crazy. The problem is the companies, if they’re being pressured by the government, so if that’s real, and if people on the right are like, yeah, ‘go get them.’ Oh my god. You’re crazy. You’re crazy for supporting this, because this will be used on you.”
He continued, “You don’t think that the fucking globalist lizard people who run the world are sitting here going, ‘Great. What do we got? Three years? We’ll wait this out. We’ll wait this out. We’ll wait this out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, let them say the government should be involved in, in censoring people’s speech.’ They’re crazy.”
