Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has shown flashes of brilliance over his first three years in the NFL. He has racked up 147 receptions for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. Everyone has been patiently waiting for Doubs to break out.
It’s partly because of the intense competition in the wide receiver room in Green Bay, which had a league-high four wideouts playing 500 snaps each. The Packers further added to the competition by signing Mecole Hardman this offseason.
Doubs is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and PFSN’s Sterling Xie argues the New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Dallas Cowboys could all be potential teams interested in trading for Doubs if the Packers decide to move him.
Patriots, Raiders, and Cowboys Possible Destinations for Romeo Doubs
The Patriots scored the third-fewest offensive points (289) in the NFL last season while managing the second-fewest offensive yards (4,962). While they have added Mack Hollins and Stefon Diggs to the passing offense this offseason, adding a young receiver with untapped potential isn’t a bad choice.
As for the Raiders, they lack consistent playmakers outside of Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers. It led the team to a bottom-five finish in PFSN’s Offense+ metric last year. Doubs might not be the quintessential primary target, but for Las Vegas, he wouldn’t have to be one either. It doesn’t hurt that Geno Smith is the new quarterback out there.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys appear to be the best possible landing spot. They lack a big threat receiver beyond CeeDee Lamb and could take a bet on Doubs for a year. That is, if Dallas doesn’t decide to draft a receiver with the No. 12 overall pick.
Xie commented on the possibility of Doubs landing in Dallas in his one veteran each NFL team could trade article. In it, Xie wrote: “The Packers had a very crowded wide receiver room in 2024. Four wide receivers saw at least 500 snaps — the most of any team. Although Christian Watson’s January torn ACL clears the picture up slightly, the Packers appear poised to add another early-round receiver in this year’s draft.
“If that happens, Romeo Doubs’ days with the Packers could very well be numbered. Doubs is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. His trade value is tricky to discern — while he averaged career-highs in receiving yards per game (46.2), yards per reception (13.1), and catch rate (63.9%), he also suffered multiple concussions last season and served a one-game suspension following dissatisfaction about his role in the offense.
“Teams in need of an X receiver could do worse than Doubs. The Raiders and Cowboys are both severely lacking in that regard, with their top targets all operating out of the slot or at tight end. The Patriots added Mack Hollins in free agency, which shouldn’t prevent them from pursuing a younger vertical receiver.”
Doubs was picked 132nd overall by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was coming off a back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in college but is yet to post one in the NFL. In three years in the league, the 25-year-old has racked up 1,700 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
