CONROE, Texas (KTRK) — A pastor and two other suspects have been arrested after he was accused of helping them hide a vehicle linked to a fatal crash, according to the Conroe Police Department.
Conroe police said the incident happened on Nov. 9 in the 200 block of North Loop 336 East. Investigators believe a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and did not stop to help.
In an update Monday, police identified the pedestrian who died as Brett Wilburn, 46. Officers said he was first struck by an SUV that left the scene, then struck by a second vehicle whose driver stayed behind and called 911.
Officials said their investigation led them to the home of the suspected driver and passenger. There, they found a burgundy 2017 Chevrolet Suburban in a locked garage.
CPD identified the driver as Steven Santilli Castro, 35, and the passenger as Angelica Flores, 61. Both were arrested on Friday.
CPD said Castro was charged with failure to stop and render aid, and Flores was charged with failure to report a felony.
Investigators also identified Juan Murillo Wilson, 34, a pastor in Castro and Flores, as someone who helped hide the suburbs. They say he was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence on Monday.
Conroe Police offered their condolences to Brett Wilburn’s family and friends, and said the investigation remains ongoing.
