Parker police ask residents, businesses to join security camera program

Parker, Colorado (KDVR) – Parker police are asking the community to participate in a volunteer program aimed at conducting investigations faster and more effective – and everything begins with a security camera.

The “vision” program, which faces a voluntary listing of the security investigation in the neighborhoods, allows residents and business owners to register their surveillance cameras with the Parker Police Department.

Police says that the record does not provide them with direct access to the summaries of the camera, but instead, the officers allow the whereabouts of the cameras in the event of a nearby crime or the issue of a missing person or other emergencies. In this way, officers can quickly reach the owner and request a review of the footage.

“When we have the opportunity to use this new technology and give the community the opportunity to help us solve crimes, we really thought this was a great way,” said Josh Hans, the Parker Police General Information Officer.

The system is already proven useful for law enforcement. Hardy Pitts, who owns the Motor Hardez, said he recently helped the police in video footage after they came through his work looking for observation in a specific time frame.

“He was a unified officer who came, and asked if we could go sometimes,” Pitts said. “He later returned that afternoon, and we withdrew the time he was looking for.”

Hans emphasized the value of behavior quickly in investigations, especially when someone is in danger.

He said: “Often the speed is very important to help us-whether it is a condition or determination of a missing child or an adult who is at risk.” “If we can go to this map and know where the cameras are in the neighborhoods, we can start from there.”

To date, hundreds of cameras have already been registered throughout Parker. The police hope that more residents will join and join business owners.

“The eyes are always,” Pitts added. “And if they can help the crime, then the matter will be.”

Sharing is free, and registration takes only a few minutes. More details available on Parker Police Department website.
